Surprise! Traditional art!

It sneaks in from time to time. Two nights ago I had the urge to paint, and then last night I wanted to finish it so I did.

Been lacking that inspiration. I started looking for my sketch book, deciding to go back to my roots. When lacking inspiration keep a sketch book to inspire yourself.

Bad news...current one is filled and rather bland.

Good news...I found one from 2005. Most of it is UTTER poo.

Two pages though, made me remember why I did art.

One page had three questions, themes I guess, that the artist Ibiyinka Alao wrote in it. What was what made me and gave me my concepts for art? What beautiful and terrible things have happened to me? All these things don't matter for together they are me and are in the past, what is the future?

Not the exact wording, but that is the gist. I'll prolly write a journal with the exact words. Either way...it got me thinking. Where I had been on my journey of art and how I've improved even when I didn't believe myself.

Another page that was inspiring was my 17 year old self writing about how I was afraid to do what I needed to do. How I was in general afraid.

I can't go in the past and tell myself it will be alright, but even now I am fearful of the future...and so I think I should paint to move through that.

So this piece is titled 'Inspiration' as all our ideas, thoughts and such stream to form and feed what we are.

Your art and spirit have always been an inspiration to me. I'm full of joy that you continue to grow and get more and more comfortable with the woman you're becoming. So glad you still have your art and writing to sustain you. Istill look for your art whenever I'm at the library or about town. Lucky that I found this. I hope to change my office soon and when I do I hope you will help me fill my walls. I LOVE this one...probably because it's traditional ;) Fondly, Tammy B
